A day of wine and roses
The Victoria State Rose Garden is a six acre, 5000 rose spectacular located in the grounds of Werribee Park, 35km West of Melbourne. Maintained by volunteers, the garden has been awarded the "International Garden of Excellence" by the World Federation Of Rose Societies. It's a popular venue for weddings and functions and is well patronised by locals, tourists, photographers, gardeners and those who just love roses and heavenly vistas.
On Sunday 1st December the State Rose and Garden Show is a great opportunity to enjoy the Garden at its most beautiful with the roses in full bloom as well as some garden-focussed additional attractions.
Along with 50 stalls featuring food, wine, plants and gardening paraphernalia available for purchase there will be industry experts to provide guidance on sustainable gardening. Tours of the Rose Garden by the Garden's volunteers will also be available. Particularly for the kids there are gardening workshops and face painting.
You might like to bring a picnic and a blanket, sit back and enjoy a lazy day smelling the roses and listening to some live Jazz. If you prefer to sizzle some snags for lunch there are bbq's, tables and plenty of run-around space for the kids in the park adjacent to the car park.
The State Rose and Garden Show runs from 11.00am until 4.00pm on Sunday 1st December. It is a Wyndham City Council event and is endorsed by The Rose Society of Victoria Inc, The Royal Horticultural Society of Victoria Inc and the Victoria State Rose Garden Volunteers.
