Starseed Gardens is the home of the Chinese Tea Ceremony presented by Roxanne Minnona. During the two hour ceremony with friends, you can discover the enticing, delicate flavours and aromas of high quality teas not always available in stores.
Roxanne explains the methods of preparation and correct temperatures to pour the tea, and importantly, the healing properties of the teas. The Lotus Tea House serves the famous High Mountain Oolong Tea, revered in China for its health benefits. It is possible to sample a number of varieties of teas, including Quan Yin tea, and Puer tea. The Tea House is also where you can purchase your favourite teas and specialty tea ware.
While drinking we were treated to a lively conversation around the uses and history of the ceremony. I was happy to find that it was a relaxed time with no stiff formality.
The Lotus Tea House is open to casual visitors, and light refreshments are also available. The floor cushions, soft music and beautiful art pieces make it a peaceful retreat to watch the bamboo sway in the breeze.
To get there: drive past the Byron Arts Factory along Skinners Shoot Rd, turn left to Yagers Lane. About 5 kms from central Byron.
