Support your favourite dancer and their partner at Stars of the East. Help raise funds for Cancer Council NSW at this incredibly fun and entertaining fundraiser. It is set to bring the house down.
Stars of the East brings together celebrities, local heroes, cancer survivors and entrepreneurs. Eleven in all, have started to practice, sweat, cry, laugh and eventually (we hope), master and dance it off at the Gala Event on May 19th at Easts League Club, Bondi Junction.
At the launch event, 11 local stars were randomly assigned a dance genre to learn and perform on this gala night. Some of the brave contenders strapping on their dance shoes to dance for cancer include:
Darren Mara (Reporter, Producer and Presenter, SBS World News)
Cameron Pascoe (Actor, Writer and Bartender, TV's First Dates),
Ryan Clark (Life Guard, Waverly Council and TV's Bondi Rescue)
Participants started training in March and are working towards reaching their fundraising targets and competing for three awards; Judges' Choice, People's Choice and Highest Fundraiser.
Each of these awesome participants is partnered with a professional dancer who will take them from tears and tantrums through to joy and laughter. With more than 6 weeks to learn their randomly selected dance, our Stars of the East will be raising valuable funds to support cancer sufferers and their loved ones.
Learning to dance can be fun, challenging and at times tormenting. But it's all towards raising valuable funds to aid the defeat of cancer. With the current rate cancer being 1 in 2 Australians diagnosed with some form of cancer by the age of 85, it would be awesome to see the money raised help defeat this statistic.
Each year, Stars of the East has raised more than $150,000 towards world-class cancer research, prevention programs, advocacy, and support services to help those affected by cancer at every point in their journey. This is not an easy feat.
