Step into the magical world of the circus under the Big Top tent in Tempe for an afternoon of family fun with the Stardust Circus. Touring in Tempe's Cahill Park throughout April, the circus features Australian and international acrobats, clowns, magicians, jugglers and aerialists.
The Stardust Circus is an Australian institution bringing the best traditions of the European and Russian circuses to Australia for the enchanting mixture of live entertainment as performers and majestic animals captivate the audience with their feats.
Outside the Ringmaster's Big Top tent, there are rides, games and snacks to enjoy.
The animals, including African lions, curious monkeys, liberty horses and trick ponies, are loved by the performers, trainers and visitors. They are trained using a reward system and live in safe, clean quarters. The conditions conform to the NSW Government's Standards for Exhibiting Circus Animals and are regularly checked by the RSPCA. The welfare of animals living in captivity must be the highest priority for circuses but also zoos, farms, pet shops and sporting bodies (e.g. horse racing and equestrian). The Stardust website provides links to studies, reports and documentaries providing an overview of animal welfare research.
