Star Wars Day 2023

What is Star Wars Day?
International Star Wars Day is an annual celebration, on May the 4th, of George Lucas' Star Wars franchise - the movies, films, series, books and costumes. Since the release of the first Star Wars movie over 40 years ago, the saga has had a seismic impact on both cinema and culture. Seems that Star Wars fans are a very loyal and passionate group who enjoy the intergalactic culture, Cosplay and Star Wars conventions such as the huge one held in Chicago. I will be celebrating Star Wars Day as I always do: with a "Pan-galactic Gargle Blaster" of course. It's the Obi-Wan for me.

All you Jedi, Sith, smugglers and rogues out there are invited to join friends and other Star Wars fans to celebrate International Star Wars Day. Below are some of the FREE ways Star Wars Day is celebrated in Brisbane.

Star Wars Day Things to Do
• Binge-watch the Star War movies (again!).
• Dress up as a Star Wars character. Challenge your friends to do it too.

Go along for some fun and celebrate this day about a galaxy far, far away. Get the kids to dress up as their favourite character and share in Star Wars-themed activities, games and quizzes.

Makerspace: Yoda ears with Hayleigh
Some of you may recognise Hayleigh from Wynnum Library, and she shows you how you can make your own Yoda ears. As you know May the 4th is coming and it is Star Wars Day. Did I mention that already? The video is 5 minutes long.

Netherworld usually celebrates May the 4th with the 'not so light side' parts of the Star Wars Universe. At the Netherworld Star Wars party, you can sing the Ewok Yub Nub and head to the dark side of the force. There'll be extra Star Wars games making an appearance. At Netherworld, 186 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley from 6:00 pm to 11:30 pm. Strictly over 18s only. FREE ENTRY but leave your light sabres in the cloakroom.

Death Star Canteen
This coffee shop is a Star Wars-themed cafe in Brisbane CBD at 359 Queen Street, Brisbane. Great for kids. And may the Force be with you, always.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens in Concert
Return to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the big screen on 22 April, at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. You can expect to see Darth Vader, Jedis, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Hans Solo, Leia, Chewie Luke and the Stormtroopers. The Queensland Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Nicholas Buc. Tickets from $59.
