Costumed kid’s fantasy & family bonding
Family photos with the bad guys and the good guys at Star Wars Day.
In its second year, Star Wars Day at the Toowoomba Regional Library is a must for all families with young children. Or indeed, for kids of all ages. As a more senior person, I still said to myself, 'Cool!' when I discovered the green screen photography. For $5, you can have your photo taken surrounded by Star Wars characters. This attracted a big crowd. Face painting attracted an even longer queue, possibly for children who had come sans costume and felt the omission. And there were plenty of kids in costume.
A very cool way to get your photo taken with Star Wars characters, using green screen photography.
Kids also had their photo taken with costumed characters. Both good guys and bad guys were friendly. Obi-Wan Kenobi had in-depth discussions with attendees. I was personally shot dead by a Storm Trooper. How embarrassing; I never saw it coming.

Other activities included DIY Star Wars stencil tees, Star Wars Craft Bar and X-Wing tabletop gaming. This attracted keen adults just as much as children. Maybe it's a 'guy thing'. More bonding time with dad could be enjoyed with a code deciphering game and on-site hunting. Yoda kept an eye on proceedings.
Males of all ages were drawn to the X-Wing gaming tables.
