I was lucky enough to get free tickets to a advance showing of Star Trek in 3D. The best thing was it started without any trailers or adverts. Why can't it always be like that!
Despite a technical difficulty at the beginning, which consisted of the 3D not working, it was only for 5 minutes and the movie was too amazing to even worry about it.
It started with a bundle of action and finished in the same way. Unlike some other action movies, it had a storyline which was easy to follow and had a little something for the die-hard Trekkies and for the newbies as well. I can't say I was the biggest Trekkie before watching the new version of the saga but now I'm in love with Spock and Captain Kirk.
My mum used to watch the old version and wasn't disappointed with this second instalment of the new Star Trek movies. I won't spoil the plot as you have to see it to enjoy it but It was intriguing and had the x factor to keep you hooked.
The main cast of Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Simon Pegg are the perfect fit for the movie. They all seem to be comfortable around each other and have a natural chemistry that makes it all believable. Who likes a movie when you can see the fakery? I personally don't. Although this is sci-fi, it all seems plausible.
The level of escapism this movie has meant when I came out of the cinema, civilisation felt strange. I expected to see a spaceship or the enterprise. That's how enthralled you become in the movie.
