Australian author, Bernadette Mercer, has started 2017 strongly with the publication of her first novel, Star of Aqualinia.
Her previous publications include a self help health book, (How To Be Your Own Therapist), and a travelogue cum cookbook, (Lunch in Avignon), both of which reflect the author's long career as a registered nurse and avid traveller
Star of Aqualinia reflects Bernadette's many years also as a Natural Therapist and Educator as it includes many references to the Essential Oils, Chakras, Auras, Crystals, Reiki and other methods of healing.
Don't let that put you off! Admittedly, this was all a bit left of centre for myself, as was the setting of a humanoid race on another planet many thousands of years ago. We're talking in the time of Atlantis here, so well before my time.

The storyline, however, is topical. Remarla, born into an aristocratic family, represents the fulfilment of a prophecy whereby she will guide the planet of Aqualinia through its darkest days.
Remarla is a gifted child who is educated in the healing arts, and we watch her skills grow and friendships develop. Her abilities as a teacher only inspires others to greater things and Aqualinia appears to be a wonderful civilisation.
Unfortunately, the New Science Society are seeking different and harmful energy sources with ramifications that are harmful to the ecology of Aqualinia. Air and water are becoming toxic, sea life is being born physically damaged.
Can Remarla and her friends use their powerful healing gifts to save Aqualinia from environmental disaster?
You will have to read the book to find out.
