As I drove to Wollongong, I decided to stop for a break. I looked on the map and saw that Stanwell Park was just a few minutes away. I didn't know what to expect as I turned into Station Street. Suddenly the most picturesque spot lay before me.
Needless to say, I didn't stay for just coffee, but for the afternoon, enjoying the beautiful scenery and watching hangliders circle the sky and land on the beach, while my junior boss played in the awesome playground and chased the ball around the park.
Stanwell Park has plenty of trees which provide shade, as well as BBQs and undercover seating areas. There are two car parks – one near the beach and one beside the café and also toilets. For children, there is plenty of room to run around and even fly a kite.
