Movin' to the country, gonna eat me a lotta cheeses
Ever have one of those weeks where the city just seems too much, and you need a change of pace? That was me last week. Don't get me wrong, I love having everything in arm's reach, with something going on every weekend, but there is something the countryside gives you that you just can't get anywhere else.

Flash forward to cruising down the open road with the windows down and fresh air pouring into the car. After an extremely busy week, there is nothing better than a weekend away with a few of your besties.

Ballandean Winery

Stanthorpe was our choice of a weekend getaway, and a great choice it was. Hidden away in south east Queensland, about 220km from Brisbane, Stanthorpe is a warm and friendly town. This cute tourist destination is nestled amongst the Granite Belt and Granite Highlands, boasting over 50 wineries and restaurants.

Sunset on Stanthorpe

There is a range of accommodation, however we chose to rent a house located on large acreage, which gave us the true country experience.

Relaxing amongst nature

We spent our time there relaxing, feasting on local cheese, chocolate, food and wine. Is there any better way to relax? I don't think so!

Enjoying local cheese and wine

The days were warm and fresh, with cooler nights - perfect for sitting by the fire with a tasty meal.

We ensured we visited the local national park before leaving and it was definitely worth the trek up the mountain. Such an amazing view, the photos don't do justice to how high it was.

Girraween Conservation Reserve

This country town is known for its charm with so many things to do and places to visit, my only regret is not taking longer to explore the area. Although 3 days was enough to explore a lot of the area, I think I could have spent a week there relaxing amongst nature.

Although this was ideal for a girls getaway, it is also a great family destination. Go on, head out to Stanthorpe this weekend. You won't regret it!
