I'm a freelance writer in Brisbane who is passionate about the food and wine scene in the Granite Belt, Queensland. I am writing a book of the people and food of Stanthorpe and plan to launch the publication in 2014.
Ballandean Estate Winery owner Angela Puglisi is no stranger to having thousands of people listen to music in his vineyard: he has hosted Opera in the Vineyard for more than 20 years. In 2013, his grapes will ripen to 70s and 80s Australian rock legends, rather than opera divas, on Saturday 16 November with Stanthorpe Rocks.
Darryl Braithwaite (pictured above) headlines the inaugural Stanthorpe Rocks, being held at Ballandean Estate Winery, 20 minute drive south of Stanthorpe. Russell Morris, Wendy Matthews, The Mentals and the Radiators join Darryl on the stage, as well as local bands Slydogz and Whiskey Gully.
Tickets for the bus to and from Ballandean and Stanthorpe accommodation need to be prebooked and costs start from $10 pp return. Buses are also available from Warwick and Tenterfield.
