Free pottery gallery, workshops & events in Stanthorpe
The Stanthorpe Pottery Club is a place for people to come together to learn and build their skills in creating beautiful pottery. If you are a visitor to Stanthorpe, you can visit their Earth and Fire gallery on Sundays or join one of their pottery workshops for adults and children at various times during the year.
The club is about like-minded people coming together to create art out of clay. The venue provides pottery wheels, kilns and other resources for members, along with workshops, mentorship, and a supportive and creative environment. Members are passionate about both pottery and the club as it is about art and friendship.
They run a small gallery, Earth and Fire, which is open on Sundays from 10 am to 1 pm. Inside are some of the best works by members. You can buy as everything is for sale, or you can just stop to look.

For people interested in pottery or those who want to build their pottery skills, there is a range of pottery workshops on offer. School holidays see workshops for kids, while on weekends you have classes on things like Nerikomi Pottery and Surface Decoration. When talking to members, the common theme is about being able to be physical in the creation of the work. That is, to really use their hands to create a bowl or other piece of pottery, as well as artistic potential beyond the physical creation.
Watch out for their various events. I was in town during their Soup Day fundraiser. The price included a bowl made by a member as well as a bowl of soup, also made by members. I was even able to talk to the person who made the bowl I chose and learned about why he designed the bowl the way he did and the reasons for the colours that attracted me to it.

The Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery is always worth visiting and, depending on the exhibition, you may see more pottery there. Then, of course, pop into the various arts and crafts shops in the main street.
There are plenty of other artist attractions in Stanthorpe
Stanthorpe has a lot of things to do in the town itself that make it well worth visiting or stopping. There are a lot of arts and crafts, and of course, if you are there on a Sunday, the Pottery Club's gallery is worth checking out, and if you are there for a longer stay consider one of the pottery workshops for yourself or your kids.
