Events win awards for good reason, and for the the reason is quite evident. The markets are great, the crowds are large and the setting alongside the seaside is second to none in South Australia. And they're back again in this coming market season.
The are held from 9am on seven Saturdays between October and April, and also from 3pm on New Year's Eve. For 5 hours, the markets assume ownership of the car parks along The Esplanade and put on a show that shouldn't be missed.

Some 60 plus stallholders include some of the local favourites selling their recent fresh catches or freshly grown and ground produce as well as some of the community groups tempting and teasing visitors with the ravenous smells of bacon, eggs and sausages cooking on the BBQ and intermingled with fresh bakery items.
[BREAK]
Supplementing the local stallholders are some handicraft, toys, sweets, jewellery, candles, books, fashion and bric-a-brac stallholders who have made their way from various parts of the Yorke Peninsula or Adelaide to participate in the fun of this great market.
Entertainment is also a key feature at the markets with live musicians and bands providing soothing tunes to keep parents occupied. Meanwhile, the lucky dips, face painting and large nearby playground will keep kids busy for hours, let alone the pontoon sitting in the shallowed clear waters of Oyster Bay.
[BREAK]
All the action takes place on the seaside of the glorious bay at Stansbury, where if they were any closer to the seaside, they'd be in the sea. Nearby the stunning murals and work of local artist Ann Harris is on display, where public buildings and the Blue Lime Cafe have been painted in vivid colours to reflect life on the Peninsula. While just a short distance away, the Walk the Yorke sign stands proud, highlighting the network of trails throughout the Peninsula, some which follow the same seaside route that the markets occupy.
For further details on the markets, and weather updates on the day, please refer to the
facebook page or their
website . Entry is free, and Stansbury is a pleasant two hour drive from Adelaide which makes it ideal for a day trip, or perhaps a weekend escape.
