Standard Market Company, Gasworks Plaza (Newstead)
The Standard Market Company opened at Gasworks Plaza -Newstead, Brisbane- in September 2013. The founders Darren Frame and Mitch Love opened their shop in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane in 2002. They had a massive success due to providing their customers with excellent products from the best suppliers, great seasonal produce and researching and stocking original food not carried by the big chain retailers.
Mitch and Darren supplied only high-quality gourmet food and vegetables and kept expanding, adding to their store a gourmet delicatessen and high-quality signature meat.
Darren and Mitch opened another store in Ferry Road Market at Southport, Gold Coast. The store was a great success, with lovers of fresh food looking for new tastes and flocking into the shop.
The idea behind the scenes was to set a new high-quality standard for fresh fruit, vegetables, products and ingredients. The Standard Market Company was created, delivering fresh every day, inspiring a different style of cooking and offering new ideas for genuine and healthy meals.
When you enter the Standard Market Company store, you notice immediately the high quality of the fruit and vegetables that have been carefully selected. The store stocks fruit, vegetables and products that may not be available in the supermarkets. Only the best fruit and the best vegetables are delivered to the customers to eat, prepare and turn into delicious and healthy dishes.
The personnel is friendly and trained to help you choose the right food items and how to prepare or cook them.
I had an incredibly fantastic time walking in the aisles of the Standard Market Company store. My eyes were captured by the many different colours and shapes of all the fresh produce and products. The tall shelves are full of an unbelievable variety of local gourmet products and food from many different parts of the world, like Italy, Spain, England, France and Mexico. I discovered many new products made in Brisbane, in Queensland and in different regions of Australia.
The advantage of a store that sells exclusive food is it gives you the possibility to concentrate on the right ingredients for the preparation of fantastic traditional recipes and recipes from the world.
I have noticed the shop doesn't carry superfluous food like unhealthy soft drinks, salty chips or sugary sauces. This store reminds me of a shop from bygone days - the ones you could buy only real food then you would go home and start your cooking.
The meats department at The Standard Market Company is a multi-award winner for the quality of the cuts, presentation and innovation in the butchery area. Like all the other departments, the quality of the meat is very high and you can find excellent meats for your special meals and for your celebrations, including Black Angus. Beef, Bangalow Sweet Pork, Nerang Park Poultry and Tasmanian Royal Lamb.
The Standard Market Company's butchers make gourmet sausages, stir-fry mixes, gourmet roasts and marinated products on site daily.
There is also a special cabinet where purebred Wagyu beef is hung to age with Himalayan salt bricks to enhance the flavour and preservation qualities of this incredible meat.
The deli is not different from all the other departments at the Standard Market Company. You can find fresh local gourmet and fine food from different countries like cheese varieties, olives, cured meats, oils, pasta, honey and many other products. Again, only the best food arrives on the shelves of the store. A great place to shop for sophisticated parties and special picnics.
The Standard Market Company has its own warehouse in Brisbane Markets at Rocklea. Only the best produce gets chosen and then carefully packed fresh, undamaged and delivered to its own shops.
You also find Australian made foods as well as products from all over the world like Italy, Spain, France, England and Mexico just to mention a few.
Products like frozen gourmet pizzas, lasagne, soups, dips, salads, snacks, gourmet yoghurt and desserts to take home, the foods are made by highly qualified chefs sourcing the best ingredients. Fresh local gourmet and international fine food including cheese, olives, cured meats, oils and pasta. Again, only the best food arrives on the shelves of the store.
Just outside The Standard Market Company Store, there is a small shop with a large window with shelves full of delicious cakes and pastries.
You can have cakes, sweet and savoury pastries made for you on order for your special celebrations or just buy them straight away.
Quench is The Standard Market Company department for award-winning handmade ice creams, sorbets and juices.
