Stampede in the valley is a 4km obstacle course style race, held in the Swan Valley, on 30th September 2012, at the picturesque Brookleigh Estate cross country field.

Competitors will be 'at one with nature' while fighting their way through muddy, dirty obstacles. This event is a fun run that is fun, and any average person can complete it.

Unlike similar events, we don't want to challenge just those hardcore tough guy types and exclude everyday people so we have different categories for the tough chicks and guys and the ones doing it for fun– this event is all about doing things you haven't done since primary school.

The event draws from military style obstacle courses, to create a manic, messy experience for competitors. The race begins with a jog through the beautiful countryside of the Swan Valley before reaching the first obstacle.

There are thirty obstacles in total, with a distance of 4km across the whole course. There is no time limit on the course, enabling people of all ages and abilities to complete it at their own pace. This race is about enjoyment and having fun rather than breaking any land speed records.

For those who want to compete this event is timed with prizes going to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the categories of Fastest Male Fastest Female Fastest Couple (Male and Female) Fastest team.

The Obstacles –
With 30 obstacles, Stampede in the Valley is not going to be a quick jaunt in the park. Similar events limit their obstacles to 17 or 18 obstacles over 8km, we have 30 obstacles over 4km.

Obstacles range from hurdles, trampling through billabongs and river crossings, as well as tyre runs, balance beams, cargo nets, running the gauntlet, slip and slid, sack races, swinging from trees and wading through mud filled pits. This race is like a trip back to the playground and all obstacles are appropriate for all ages. Nothing too daunting or scary here – just fun, mess and sweat!

The first wave of competitors will start at 8am, each wave will have 150 people so no bottle necking! And waves will leave every 20 minutes. The event site opens at 7.00am for registration.

We don't want to leave out the eager young obstacle course racers and we are sure the kids will show the adults how it is done.

We have designed a kids specific obstacle course challenge as well. This fun course will be a scaled down version of the adults.

This course will be open for ages 6 - 11 years.
Ages 12 and over will compete in the adult course.

Parents can run with age group 6 - 11 at no charge.
Food and drink will be available on site. Or bring a picnic along and make a day of it, kids entertainment will also be available.

Early bird entries $50 before the 31st August after that $65 and $35 for the kids. Part proceeds to the Wheelchair Association.
