On Sunday 17 March 2019, you can celebrate everything Irish as the Rocks is transformed into an Irish village for the day as the Sydney St Patrick's Day celebrations return to the birthplace of Irish settlement in Australia.
Being the site of the first Irish settlement, it is fitting to celebrate the strong influence the Irish have had on Australian culture and the connection between the two countries at this historic location.
Festivities will commence with the St Patrick's day parade from the First Fleet Park at 11:00 am to Dawes Point Park where the main festival will be held.
The celebrations will include a children's activity area, with Irish dancing, language classes, folk ballads, stories and free craft activities for children of all ages between 12.00pm and 4.30pm.
There will be face painting, airbrush tattoos and various performances in the Tir Na Nog Tent between 12.00pm and 5.00pm.
For the grown-ups, the official Australian Citizenship Ceremony, storytelling, food, drink and craft stalls.
However, the best part of the festival is the wonderful musical line up on the Main Stage. Traditional Irish folk music, rock, acoustic folk punk and popular DJ mashups, it is the perfect place to kick back and enjoy the performers and live music.
