P.J. O'Brien's at Southbank , one of Melbourne's longest standing authentic Irish pubs, has a full day of celebrations on St Patrick's Day, Thursday 17th March 2016. From 8am until late revellers can enjoy Irish food, live music, face painting, lots of Guinness and some special Irish cocktails.

Festivities kick off with a special Big Irish Breakfast - including Ireland's famous black and white pudding - from 8.00-11.00am. Lunch will be served from 12 noon to 3.00pm.

Head Chef Gary Darnbrough is expecting to sell over 250 Big Irish Breakfasts, as well as a smorgasbord of Irish dishes such as beef and Guinness pie, traditional Irish stew, and his signature 'Irish parma'."The Irish parma is a chicken schnitzel with bacon, cheese, and McDonnell's curry sauce. The sauce is a traditional recipe that we import especially from Ireland," says Gary. "I can't believe how popular it is, we've been selling about 450 to 500 Irish parmas a week!".

Entertainment will be provided by a great lineup of Irish bands and musicians, including The Coogans, Pat McKernan, Gallie, The Penguins and Roesy. DJ Shadow will keep the party going late into the night. And keep an eye out for 'Guinness Pint Man' who will make special appearances all day.

Discerning drinkers might also want to sample P.J. O'Brien's Irish cocktails. Head bartender Cian O'Neill recommends his new Jameson Martini, in which Jameson's Irish Whiskey is combined with Smirnoff Apple Twist, cloudy apple juice and lime.

Irish bartender Colm Brennan suggests his concoction - the Black and Gold - which is made with Guinness (the black), and Jameson's Caskmates (the gold), combined with sugar syrup, lime juice and egg white.

At just $25 (includes a pint of Guinness or glass of sparkling wine) ($12 for children), the Big Breakfast represents great value. Bookings are essential.
