The 17th of March has become one of the most celebrated events in the world. Although traditionally, this day is a religious day to celebrate St Patrick, the patron Saint of the Irish, one could say it now religiously associated to everything Irish. Anything green or gold, shamrocks and luck, and of course, beer represents St Patrick's day.

So all you Victorians and non-Victorians of course, get your Irish on and choose a great pub, get a nice cold Guinness, and enjoy these sunny days with your friends. This is widely regarded as the authentic way to celebrate this day.

For those who have yet to discover Melbourne, here's a little help to plan your St Patrick's Day itinerary:

The Quiet Man Flemington
Outdoor street party with live bands, food and drink stalls and indoor live music with breakfast available from 10am.

Bridie O'Reillys Brunswick
Probably the best place to be. Open from 9.30am to 3.00am, O'Reilly's has free entry and $20 pint and Irish breakfast, with entertainment all day long in the beer garden and on stage.

P.J.O'Briens Southbank
Open from 9am till the wee hours, enjoy a full Irish breakfast, some Irish dancing and live music. Booking are in order in this pubs and it will book out pretty fast.

The Corkman Irish Pub Carlton
Celebrate a traditional Irish session at the Corkman from 5pm to 9pm with traditional meals and beer.

For the Guinness fans, Guinness has also made a little Black List to help guide people in Melbourne to a convenient Irish Pub to enjoy these festivities. The Guinness Black List can be found at www.guiness.com.au

It's even available as an iPhone app.

Happy St Patrick's Day everyone!
