You don't have to be Irish to celebrate St Patricks Day. In Australia we observe this day on March 17th and although it is not a public holiday it is a day that culminates in a celebration of all things Irish.
Next Sunday, just days before the 17th, The Grand View Hotel in Cleveland will be hosting an event to commemorate St Patrick and Irish culture. There will be Guinness on tap to complement the oysters, a menu filled with Irish fare, and Irish Pub Band, Tullamore Tree.
The band's leader singer , Scruffy, is suitably named. Scruffy in both appearance and attitude, he is nevertheless authentically Irish. There is much storytelling and humour between songs, which Scruffy delivers with an ale in his hand as well as passion. Their playlist includes classic folk songs in which audience participation is encouraged, irreverent political ballads, and some truly great Eric Clapton covers.
The beer garden at the Grand View is spacious, and with that impossible-to-beat view of Moreton Bay and North Stradbroke Island . The Little People will be catered for with farm animals, jumping castle, and dedicated play area, whilst the bigger kiddies can safely kick a ball or explore the shoreline in the adjacent parklands.
