There's something we need to address first up here and that is - is it 'whiskey' or 'whisky'? Both are correct, with the variation having a regional basis; 'whiskey' generally indicates Irish and American origins, while 'whisky' is more likely to indicate a Scottish origin.

Having cleared that up, we can move on. Young, award winning Irish whiskey company, Teeling Whiskey, hails from the heart of Dublin, and therefore is very much in the whiskey with an 'e' camp.

With this heritage, Teeling is well qualified to be hosting a St Patrick's Eve celebration. The party takes place from 7.00pm on Wednesday 16th March, at Bar 1806, 169 Exhibition St, Melbourne.

While Teeling Whiskey is a relative newcomer in Australia, the family owned and operated company has a 230 year old history that dates back to 1782 when Walter Teeling set up a craft distillery in the heart of Dublin.

After hard times brought a sharp fall in the Irish whiskey industry, distilleries in Dublin closed, with the stills running cold in 1976.

Fast forward to 2012 when Jack Teeling decided to carry on his family legacy along with his brother, Stephen. In 2015 they opened the first new distillery in Dublin in 125 years.

In just over three years of operation, Teeling is now being distributed to 46 countries, with their entire range launching in Australia in 2015, and the new limited edition spirit, The Revival 15 Year Old Single Malt, becoming available in time for St Patrick's Day.

Teeling's Asia-Pacific Brand Ambassador and Dublin native, Martin Lynch says:

"As an Irishman and whiskey enthusiast, it really is a dream job to be representing such a unique Dublin brand here in Australia. The Teeling brothers have been working extremely hard and we have already won some brilliant awards. Since launching, it's been great to see the fantastic response to the whiskey from Australian consumers and trade," says Martin.

Teeling prides itself on having a whiskies that mix well. On their website you can find a range of recipes that highlight the versatility of this tipple. For example, they have taken a classic whiskey based cocktail - Cameron's Kick - and added Masala Chai Tea infusion, chocolate liqueur, sherry and bitters, to create the 'Teeling and Tea'. Or there's the Souring Inferno, in which egg white over the concoction is set alight to give a brûlée effect.
