Do you fancy yourself to have a bit of the luck of the Irish? Well, you will have to join Australia Zoo on Saturday 17 March 2018 to celebrate St Patrick's Day and to find out how true your luck truly runs! Australia Zoo have a packed-to-capacity fun day lined up with games, ensuring the whole family has a whale of a time.

First up, and this one is surely good news for the ladies…and gents out there!

Win Your Wife's Weight In Beer

Ladies, this is the perfect excuse to stop counting calories and stop losing weight! Couples get to compete in Australia Zoo's annual wife-carrying competition to win your partner's weight in beer! All you need to do to win this liquid gold prize is to be the fastest pair to complete the St Patrick's Day obstacle course. Your teammate doesn't have to be your wife, it could be whomever you choose. Perhaps 'wifey' has more stamina and strength than 'hubby' and can carry him around the obstacle course. Whichever way you choose to play it or run it, ALL entrants must be over 18 years of age.

The winning couple's 'wife' will get to sit on a see-saw to balance against the beer, until the weight in beer is equal to the 'wife's' weight! Register before St Patrick's Day by emailing Australia Zoo at [email protected]. Entrants can also register on the day at the 'Wife Carrying Competition' table, but as spaces are limited, it's probably a better idea to email Australia Zoo beforehand. Knick-knack, paddywhack, give the winning pair some beers!

Find Hidden Golden Coins

Keep your eyes peeled for treasures at Australia Zoo on St Patrick's Day! Rumours abound that leprechauns have visited the Zoo and accidentally or on purpose, dropped twenty gold coins. If you can help Australia Zoo to collect this bounty, your reward will be a FREE green ice cream from Crikey Cafe. Sounds like a win-win to me!

Irish Dancers

What is St Patrick's Day festivities without some Irish dancing? Scoil Ard Rince is one of Brisbane's largest Irish dancing schools, with classes for beginners, intermediate and open Irish dancers on the north and south side of Brisbane, as well as the Sunshine Coast.

On arrival at Australia Zoo, visitors will be able to see the very talented Irish dancers kicking off the festivities; and again later, these fabulous dancers can be seen in the famous Mount Franklin Crocoseum.

Be sure to pack your dancing shoes - the Scoil Ard Rince Irish dancers would love St Patrick's Day visitors to join in.

'Talk like the Irish Quiz'

This should be fun! I love games and puzzles and this one should be no exception. Find out how many Irish expressions you really know and complete the 'Talk like the Irish' quiz, by finishing off the eleven hidden sayings, to be found in and around Australia Zoo. Drop your entry form into the box at the Information Desk to go into the draw to win an Australia Zoo prize pack. Stacks of fun for the Kids

The children are sure to have a whale of a time at Australia Zoo with games like the Shamrock Relay Race and Irish Hot Potato, with prizes up for grabs here too.
