I remember visiting the St Marys World Fair's when I was a kid. Held once every five years, they seemed the biggest event outside of the Royal Show, with vast areas of their beautiful school grounds taken over by market stalls, side show rides and games, stages for performances and international food stalls.

It's been a long time since I have visited, but on Saturday October 22nd this year I will be returning once again to the St Marys World Fair, and since this year the Karrinyup based school is celebrating its 95th birthday - the celebrations will be even bigger.

The festival is called the World Fair to acknowledge the impressive diversity of their students, and the tradition goes all the way back to 1921. The school will be using some of the funds raised to purchase outdoor exercise equipment for both the junior and senior schools, but a gold coin donation on entry will be donated exclusively to the Anglican Board of Mission, for a special project which is working to redress gender inequality in Zambia.

Some of the stalls you can expect to find this year include:

Farmers Market
Second-hand books
Jar Tombola
Cakes and lollies
Show bags
Halloween crafts
Homemade preserves
Succulents, herbs and fresh flowers
Bath Bombs
Chocolate Wheel
Handmade Wheat Bags

As well as fairground rides and amusements for young and old alike:

Tractor train and tea cup ride
Bouncy castles
Putt Putt
Animal farm and pony rides
Flight simulator
Inflatable obstacle course
Zorb balls
Climbing wall
Inflatable racing slides and lots more.

Rides will be a certain number of tokens, with tokens being sold on the day for $5 each or in bundles of 8 for $30 (a saving of $10).

If your little ones needs some time out they will be able to find some quiet in the colouring-in room and story-telling room. For parents there will live music and entertainment all day as well as DIY Workshops to participate in.

One of the things the World Fair has become well-known for, is their large selection of food stalls, encompassing the cuisines of the world such as souvlaki, paella, Mexican, Indian, crepes, sliders, donuts, German sausage sizzle as well as Devonshire Tea, superfood bowls, coffee vans and more.

Parking has been arranged on the school's top oval and other nearby areas or you can catch public transport with a bus stopping outside the front gates.

So make sure Saturday October 22nd is in your diary, and head to the World Fair for a day of thrills, shopping, food and wonder.
