'It's not what you think'
Acland Street is set to become even more amazing and colourful than usual this week as it comes alive with all kinds of entertainment in the street and surrounding areas. A world and Australian first, StripFest has teamed up with St Kilda Village to put on a venue, store and street festival "to celebrate all that's good about our local shopping strips."

The theme of the festival is cake. So there really couldn't be a better venue than Acland Street, the home of the most fabulously delicious cake shops in Melbourne. There's more though, much more. From films, music, art, comedy, workshops, tours, kids activities and pop up poetry to pretty much anything you can think of.

There's something to entertain all ages. How about a guided tour of the local vintage and op shops? QR code artworks? Grafitti art? Listen to music, catch up on some comedy?

Especially for the kids, there's face painting and workshops in storytelling and drawing, tap dancing and recycled arts.

The festival has some celebrity ambassadors: Deborah Conway, Kate Ceberano, Rachel Berger and Mr Barry Morgan

The program is organised into sections so you can search for events by day, by venue and for free events, ticketed events and family friendly ones. Don't forget to schedule in some time for coffee and cake.

Life would be very dull (and difficult) without our local retailers, services, cafes and restaurants. So, come along and join in the celebration of one of Melbourne's most iconic shopping strips.
