St Kilda Pier

A sunny weekend in Melbourne is perfect to hit the beaches, and the popular
St Kilda Beach is always a great start. As you are at the beach walking away from
Melbourne's Luna Park ; you will find St Kilda Pier, where you will also find the
St Kilda Pier Kiosk . If your cash is tight (or perhaps your not in the mood to spend money), and you want to enjoy the sunshine and/or warm weather ahead of us, then why not walk to St Kilda Pier.
A word of warning - it is quite windy, however you will quickly get used to the wind pushing you around ever so slightly as you escape Acland Street and immerse yourself around water at St Kilda Harbour and a of glimpse of the city skyline on your right hand side.
It is okay to bike ride along the pier, however it is highly recommended that you walk along as the winds can get quite heavy, and before you know it you will be at the Marina.
Keep walking past the cafe and you will be in the penguin sanctuary (no photos allowed), and if you are lucky you might come across some tiny penguins. It is a different walk, and be prepared for the wind to sway you as you head back to the beach.
Even though chances are you have burnt some energy off, especially on a warm day (even though this is Melbourne, wearing sunscreen is still recommended) why not cool down with a yummy gelato at one of the ice creameries located on
Acland Street , and if you want to do do a bit of shopping, then Acland Street is perfect for that as well.
Tram route 96 will take you back into the City from the end of Acland Street near the shopping centre.
If you are the type who likes to try different things and/or you are someone who loves going on different walks and enjoys the water, then St Kilda Pier should not be ignored.
