St Kilda Mums is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers with their core aim to provide new and pre-loved baby items to disadvantaged and families in need.


The organisation came about by a group of mothers who had unwanted baby items and no one to give them to. They found a gap whereby certain items such as cots and prams weren't accepted by opportunity shops due to safety regulations and therefore the goods weren't accepted. When they tried to track down a woman's shelter they found that no such service existed to put people with items to donate in touch with those needing these items. And thus, St Kilda Mums was born.

The organisation is holding an open day on Saturday 3 May 2014 between 1pm and 4pm to celebrate its five year anniversary and to help promote the organisation. The St Kilda warehouse will be open to the public for the first time and will give you the opportunity to see how this volunteer organisation runs and operates as well as being a fun afternoon filled with activities.

The local street will be blocked off and entry to the Open Day is via gold coin donation. A range of activities will be available such as face painting, a bouncing castle, balloon animals, craft area, clown, Thermomix demonstrations, and warehouse tours. Coffee, sausage sizzle and cupcakes will be available by gold coin donation too.

Please be advised that St Kilda Mums cannot accept any donated goods during its Open Day, however, feel free to view their list of what items they do and do not re-home. This list has been provided to document what safety standards adhere to specific items, and which items they can give to those experiencing hardship.
