Calling all filmmakers! Entries are now open for the acclaimed St Kilda Film Festival.

Whether you're an emerging filmmaker or a career professional, there's a category for you, including Australia's Top 100 short film competition, The SoundKILDA music video competition, and Under the Radar for filmmakers under the age of 21.

The Festival commences Thursday 19 May until Saturday 28 May 2016, transforming St Kilda Town Hall into a cinematic haven, kicking off with a red carpet event, the Official Opening at the historic Palais Theatre, with celebrities, sponsors, nominee's and more.

The ten-day event features a wide range of short films sure to include something for everyone as well as special screenings and an exciting event schedule.
The St Kilda Film Festival also tours regional destinations around Victoria, bringing the celebration of short film to rural communities. Now celebrating 33 years, the St Kilda Film Festival will screen the Top 100 short film entries received with a prize pool that totals over $50,000 worth of cash and in-kind craft awards, including a $10,000 prize for Best Short Film.

Accredited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the festival is an Academy Awards® qualifying event – with award-winning films from St Kilda Film Festival eligible for consideration in the OSCARS® Short Film and Documentary Short Subject Awards.

The ever-popular SoundKILDA Music Video Competition is back again, offering prizes in three categories: Best Music Video, Cinematography and Craft. There will also be a special Audience Award voted for and presented on the night of the screening.

Applicants for these competitions can enter via the website before Friday 29 January 2016. Both competitions are open to Australian residents only, and cost $33.00 (inc. GST) to enter.
Filmmakers under 21 are invited to enter their work in the 2016 Under the Radar competition, an initiative of the City of Port Phillip's Youth Services division. Successful entrants will have their film screened as part of the festival. Under the Radar provides an opportunity for young filmmakers to show their work in an internationally recognised film festival. Entries close January 2016 so register and start creating.
