Roll up, roll up to the St Kilda Festival for 2019
The St Kilda Festival is an iconic annual event with many fabulous things to see, do and eat! This year, it will be held on Sunday 10th February 2019, from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm. It is a FREE event and is Australia's biggest celebration of summer, showcasing Australian artists and entertainment in amongst the spectacular beauty of the St Kilda foreshore.

It is held on the second Sunday in February each year and attracts around 400,000 people. On this day, the streets of St Kilda are closed to traffic and some of Australia's best musicians play over multiple stages.

Also on during the festival are:

Carnival rides

Sporting activities
A dedicated kids zone
Market stalls and shops
Dance performances and workshops

Food stalls
Drink stalls
Free activities for all ages
And more

The first St Kilda Festival was held way back in 1980 and since then, this well-loved annual summer celebration has established itself as an iconic event.

The festival hosts seven stages of free live music and in 2019, these will all be accessible to all ages!

Main Stage – featuring The Northern Folk, 2018 New Music Stage winners

O'Donnell Gardens Stage
Alfred Square Stage
New Music Stage – ten of the nation's best up and coming entertainers will battle it out for your vote. The one voted favourite by the crowd will win a prize of $5,000 cash and an invitation to play on the Main Stage at the 40th St Kilda Festival in 2020.
Fitzroy Street Stage – featuring an all-Victorian line-up
The Push Stage – featuring the FReeZA Push Start Competition Grand Final
Songwriter's Collective Stage – features local singers and songwriters down near the St Kilda Pier

Full details of all the artists appearing at this festival will be released on 8th January 2019.

Catani Gardens will be transformed into a wonderland of fun and entertainment for the whole family. There will be the following at this venue:

A stage of entertainment
Roving performers
Art installations
Face painting
A children's carnival
Activities and workshops – for the young and young at heart!

From belly dancing to beach volleyball, BMX stunts to bubble soccer, a Ratha Yatra Parade and Latin dance workshops, there will be all manner of entertainment and workshops for all ages.

The carnival is always a popular event and sideshow alley will be returning in 2019 and located next to the Palais Theatre.

There will be a whole lot of fabulous arts and crafts market stalls, including something for your Valentine. All in all, there will be more than 80 unique and exciting market stalls on the festival grounds.

The St Kilda Festival will have more than 100 food trucks and stalls this year to feed those 400,000 hungry people and keep them happy and their tummies full! You can see the participating food trucks and stalls closer to the festival date on their Facebook page.

Of course, being near Fitzroy and Acland Streets, these streets will be the height of activity on festival day. Many of the local cafes and bars will put on special events, food and beverage specials, so make sure you also visit this area!

The 2019 St Kilda Festival Design Competition is now closed. And the winner is… (drum roll) Anita Lester.

Anita is an artist, who also works as a musician, illustrator and writer. She also illustrates children's books and enjoys painting and drawing. You can read more about Anita at her website.

Each year, the St Kilda Festival asks the community to add a little local colour and flair to the festival's public image. The winner receives a cash prize and the winning design is incorporated into the festival's promotional materials.

The 2019 St Kilda Festival will be a fabulous day of fun with family and friends, so don't miss it!
