The award-winning adventure playground located at St Kilda is a must visit place in South Australia. As a child, when school holidays rolled around one of my favourite things to do was visit this playground. Now that I'm older I take my partner's niece and nephew and it's still just as much fun for them as it is for me. When travelling to St Kilda it is a 45 minute drive north of the Adelaide CBD and is well worth the drive. This playground is like no other and offers entertainment for the whole family. It caters for all ages and all adventure types featuring a flying fox that even the adults love. There are two sets of swings that look like they're attached to a round clothes line, where four children can jump on and a fit parent can run them around.
They also cater for younger children with swings, a see-saw and a sandpit with diggers. A playground called 'The Yellow Submarine' is designed for all ages including toddlers. When taking the whole family for a day of fun start the day with a picnic or a barbecue on the grass lands and feed the many seagulls that surround the beach view area.
Make your first stop the slides. Guests will need all their energy for the steps it takes to get to the top. Don't forget those hessian bags for the giant wave slide for that bit of extra speed. Tackle the two curvy dark slides next where children can race each other to the bottom and when they've reached the bottom, they will find themselves trapped in a maze that they will need to find their way out of.
A little girl's favourite, where she can be a princess, would be the castle with an opening draw bridge and stairs to the top where you will find two slides that take you to the base of the castle. From here you can enter the under castle tunnels. A little boy's favourite would be the ship wrecked pirate ship, with stairs down to the gaol, where you can lock up naughty pirates.
The best part about St Kilda Adventure Playground isn't the equipment, it isn't the fun family day and memories that will last forever and it isn't the beautiful beach view location, it's all of it. It's a family day of fun with a beach breeze and it's completely free and always open.
