Urban music experience like no other
st jerome laneway festival

For a big dose of the freshest and greatest musical acts around, head to St Jerome's Laneway Festival on Friday 31 January 2014 at RNA Showgrounds.

Beginning in 2004, St. Jerome's Laneway Festival began in the tiny St. Jerome's Bar hidden in a dingy alley way in the Melbourne CBD featuring new bands of the time such as The Presets every Sunday. Then monthly Saturday night sessions were added before the founders decided to close the lane and throw a wicked laneway party. Since then, it has been transformed into a national touring event and become one of the nation's absolute favourite summer festivals winning international acclaim and respect.

In 2014, the St Jerome's Laneway Festival presents a program that's possibly the most eclectic and compelling to date. Expect artists to bring you an insanely awesome live show, exciting new talent never seen before, and the return of several international acts.

From the US, you have artists such as Autre Ne Veut and his off-kilter R&B and swelling choruses; Cass McCombs with his unique combination of Americana, bedroom pop, folk and chamber music; and Danny Brown with his uproarious and heartbreaking rap music.

From Australia, performers like Jagwar Ma, Cloud Control, Scenic and Kirin J Callinan will be tearing the stage up with hip-shaking tunes, controversial performances, dreamy pop and ripped-out beats.

From the UK, expect artists such as Chvrches, Daughter, Jamie XX and Savages to deliver blowout performances with energetic acts, superb remixes, introspective lyrics and crystalline pop music.

There are so many more artists in the line-up that I can't possibly list it all, so go to their website for the complete list.

This is strictly an 18 event so don't forget to bring your photo ID. To snag a ticket at $126 each, go to the Laneway Festival website where you can also get more information about this event. To receive the latest news and exclusive information, you should subscribe to become a Laneway member and like their Facebook page. You can also follow them on Twitter and Instagram for their latest updates and photos.
