This is a fun day for the family without breaking too many budgets, entry costs of $5 for children over 5/seniors/adults. Entertainment such as amusement rides for the kids ($20 for 5 rides), Ferris wheel, jumping castles, whizzing around on boats on water, train ride, teacups, just a few of the rides on offer. Food options ranged from Korean bulgogi rolls, Cuban stewed chorizo paella (spicy goodness), piroshky fried buns filled with a variety of fillings (gobbled the spinach and cheese one down in seconds) to the usual gozleme and dessert stands of handmade baklava, snow cones, fairy floss and sugar rush licorice.

The kids were mesmerized by the live reptile show with Neville Burns who had brown snakes and tiger snakes slithering around. The small crowd around his stage hanging onto his every word, listening to his stories of being bitten by snakes and teaching how to best treat a snake bite. Informative and mesmerizing, two big ticks from me.

There are kelpies herding up the sheep herding demonstrations, puppet performances, police operation momentum where the kids can sit in the cars and honk the horn.

Performances on the main stage included the indigenious choir, seeing the Seabird cheer squad in action and boogying away to the bands playing.

The animal nursery was a massive hit with the kids, very well set out with so much to take in, mice darting in and out of a loaf of bread, guinea pigs sleeping, baby chickens chirping and darting in and out of the food, cats roaming up a chimney like structure. Just outside is an open enclosure of chickens, sheep, a turkey, pig, and calf which I couldn't tear my kids away from.

There are also an assortment of stalls varying from women's clothing, gloves and hats, animal hats, toys, French lotions, fair trade wallets and purses, belts and other knick knacks.

Activities for the kids included painting an umbrella $10 which allows for your child to paint their umbrella in a mirage of colours and you can pick up your decorated umbrella after its dried and you have finished your day at the show. Lots of picnic areas to chill out and enjoy the sunshine.

Definitely recommend The Show for a relaxed fun day. Really impressed as it wasn't too crowded, kids were happily amused, us old folk had a chance to enjoy a bite and take in the performances.

We did miss the entrance to the St Ives Showground so if you do miss the first sign, there is another entrance that you can turn into or if you were like us, take the next right and turn back and have another go. Entering the showground, pay on entry and parking is adhoc but there is plenty of space available.
