On the first weekend of the September school holidays from Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September 2017, the St Ives Showground will be transformed into a living medieval kingdom complete with exhilarating jousting, full-armoured warriors, a life-size giant catapult, called a trebuchet, firing projectiles hundreds of metres into the air and real-life birds of prey! Come along with the whole family and immerse yourself in the true spectacle of medieval drama, entertainment, food and life!
To officially open the Faire on Friday 22nd September, there will be a lavish Medieval Feast in a grand feasting hall. Join the King and Queen for an authentic, medieval banquet while jesters and musicians play for your delight.
Then on the weekend of Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September 2017, you'll be transported back in time to the dark ages with the inaugural World Jousting Championship, which will see the world's very best knights from across the globe tempt fate in a 15th century solid lance tournament. As the new must-watch extreme sport, there is no match for experiencing the thrill of jousting live in action!
To complete your visit, enjoy some delicious food and drinks at the Medieval Tavern.You and your family can also don your heraldry, suits of armour and peasant dresses and take part in the exciting Costume Competition - there will be great prizes up for grabs!
