This new hipster joint can be found smack bang in the middle of Logan. But keep reading! The café has an airy feel and abounds in greenery with cute little cacti, potted ferns and wall-mounted foliage. It's also located in a shopping centre carpark. Confused yet?
What: St Coco Cafe
Where: 3 Cupania St, Daisy Hill QLD 4127
Why: Brunch in the 'burbs
Well, I can assure you that it's probably not what you imagine when you envision a typical suburban shopping centre coffee spot. Sitting off to the side in a quiet corner, St Coco in Daisy Hill has a fresh vibe and a welcoming atmosphere. Just when you thought the suburban café spread was on the slow-down, places like this continue to pop up and draw a crowd. The patronage is a mix of couples, young groups, and old mates catching up for a cappuccino.
St Loco pride themselves on their coffee and the baristas can certainly pour a mean latte. If you're stuck in a queue to order, there's a good chance you'll also be mesmerised by the slow-drip coffee contraption set up near the bar.
As for the food, all-day breakfasts are on offer from 7AM on weekdays, and 8AM on weekends. You'll find your usual hearty breakfast favourites, including mandatory smashed avo, plus some unusually delicious inventions in both sweet and savoury offerings. My pick is the rosella and ricotta hotcake with lemon sorbet and candied walnuts.
In addition to the generous spread of menu options, there's a glass cabinet with an array of tempting baked treats and raw delights to go with your morning coffee, or if you're still full from your kebab last night.
St Loco is only a few minutes drive from the M1, so it's a prime location for Brisbanites or Gold Coasters to make an easy stop off on the commute to work or to the beach on the weekend – just remember to get there early to avoid the crowd.
