Where can you get a steaming hot chai, a vintage outfit, fresh fruit and veg for the week, a birthday present for Great Aunty Flo and a rejuvenating massage within an hour? "Nowhere. That place doesn't exist" I hear you say, and to be honest, I thought exactly the same thing, until I stumbled across the St.Andrews Community Market one Saturday morning.
Taste the delicious food while meandering around the stalls at the St. Andrews Market.
The market is a hub of activity set in a stunning eucalypt forest. Turn one way and you'll see and smell delicious tofu wraps being created, turn another and you might spot a second-hand book you've been looking for since last year. Other items to look out for include:
Handmade leather wallets
Delightful homemade muffins
Funky t-shirts – E.T has had a revival
Warm woollen socks for frosty mornings
Delicious vegetable samosas
A variety of clothes, both secondhand and new
Secondhand tools to decorate the shadow board in your shed
There are a huge range of stalls to enjoy at the St. Andrews Community Market.
The market is open every Saturday (except for days of Total Fire Ban) from 8am-2pm and can be found on the corner of Kangaroo Ground-St Andrews rd and Heidelberg-Kinglake rd in St.Andrews. Admission is free.
We live in the area for over 20 years and always found something we wanted at this market, lovely fresh flowers, hand spun wool, yummy spring rolls and fresh fruit. Be prepared for some alternative people, they love this market, but it's a great place to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday morning, then pop over the the St. Andrews Pub for a meal or a drink. The bakery behind the pub uses a wood fired oven to make their bread and cakes, which are so good.
