Nestled between the bush and the city, St Andrews is close enough to be a suburb of Melbourne yet still feels like a country town. The St Andrews Community Market continues its yearly tradition of a twilight market to celebrate Christmas. Held on the evening of Tuesday 17 December, the market is a place to enjoy all the wares for sale, eat fresh market food and delight in the bush atmosphere.
The market stalls have something for everything, including fresh produce, plants and pottery, gourmet cooking items such as home-grown honey and chilli relish, homewares, clothing for women, men and children, jewellery, artwork and toys.
There will be a variety of food to eat at the market, including vegetarian options and hot drinks. If you're after a sit down dinner, head over to the local pub across the road for a pub meal and a great, family friendly atmosphere. Keep in mind that the market is an animal free zone, so leave the pets at home. Get in early to grab yourself a great bargain.
The market runs from 4pm to 9pm,. It is most accessible by car, but there will be shuttle buses running between the market and Hurstbridge station. If you can't make it on the 17th, the market runs every Saturday morning, except on days of total fire ban. Check their website or Facebook page for more details.
