Finally, an authentic Malaysian South Indian curry joint has found a home on William Street, Northbridge's gastronomic go-to for a cheap and tasty meal.

presents as a nondescript cafe-style restaurant with nothing standout to draw you in. The small space is furnished sparsely with tables reminiscent of a food court along the side walls, and an abundance of overly bright light that almost had me putting on some shades after coming in from the dark street. But oh, once the first taste of dry lamb curry touched my lips I was in another world where nothing else mattered.

Now the food. Being a frequent visitor to Malaysia, I don't take my Malaysian-style South Indian food lightly. I like my rotis buttery and ridiculously flaky, my curry chock full of flavour and boldly spicy, and my teh tarik strong and sweet. To this end, delivered.

We ordered a cheese roti canai ($9), chicken murtabak ($12), dry lamb curry ($7) and one of the specials featured on the night, a saucy goat curry ($7). My roti was perfectly cooked and delicately cheesy. The chicken murtabak (a roti stuffed with spicy minced chicken) was flavoursome and satisfying. The goat curry consisted of juicy, extremely tender pieces of goat that were swimming in a rich curry sauce. And the lamb curry was... Well I was speechless.
