Event:
Learn all about yoga & meditation at this special festival
Spring in Perth is a time of fairs, fetes and festive fun, with every weekend presenting a fresh smorgasbord of family-friendly events to choose from. While each of these local festivities is unique and special in its own way, contributing to a worthy community cause, from time to time one comes along that offers something a little bit out of the ordinary. For this reason, when I stumbled across a flyer for an upcoming fair at the Beacon Yoga Centre (the teaching arm of the Sivananda Ashram in Beaconsfield), it immediately caught my attention.

Taking place on Saturday November 4th, Spring into the Ashram Fair Day promises to be a traditional springtime fair, albeit with a healthy dose of yoga, healing and other good things. Some of the attractions on the big day will include an op shop (purveying clothing, homewares and other goodies), craft stalls, natural cosmetic stalls with all sorts of wonderful lotions and potions, healthy refreshments and a fashion parade. There will also be massages, Ayurvedic consultations, sound yoga, crystal healing and much more. Beautiful music played on the marimba will be some of the live entertainment offered on the day.

However, some of the fair's biggest drawcards are sure to be the free yoga classes (for both adults and children) that will be taking place throughout the day. If you've always wanted to learn yoga but have never got around to it, this could be a great chance to check it out without a hefty financial outlay. There will also be plenty of opportunities to discuss yoga and other subjects with some of the centre's knowledgeable teachers and senior practitioners.

In a nutshell, if you love traditional spring fairs, but also crave something a little different as the season draws to an end, the Spring into the Ashram Fair Day may be just what you're looking for. Combining healing, eclectic market stalls, delicious vegetarian food and lots of yoga, this is an event that will leave you feeling relaxed, invigorated and inspired to learn more about a yogic way of life.

The Spring into the Ashram Fair Day will be taking place from 10am until 4pm, on Saturday November 4th. To find out more, visit the Sivananda Ashram's website, or call them on 08 9335 9339. The Beacon Yoga Centre is located at 151 South Street in Beaconsfield, just a few kilometres from downtown Fremantle.
