Spring Forward for Kids in Perth
The Spring Forward concept has a bit of magic to it. After all, it brings two fantastic elements together to make an impact for good fun for kids raising money for kids who are having a difficult time. When the core of a cause is the benefit of our children, everyone's a winner!
In its 8th year, Spring Forward is a Kids Fun Run positively promoting awareness in the community around the effects of trauma on children. It aims to also educate children about the power of giving back to a community that has had a tough time. Their motto 'Kids Helping Kids' puts our most important assets at the centre of this event.
You can be part of this exciting event for kids and their families by registering to run! Last year over 600 children registered for the event at the WA Athletics Stadium. Registrations are open now on the Parkerville Children and Youth Care website. Register here.
Runners Welcome from Under 5 to Under 18!
In 2015, the event plans to welcome even more runners as they move towards their goal of the biggest Kids Fun Run in Perth.
The run will be on Sunday 20th September 2015 at the WA Athletics Stadium, Mount Claremont (behind Challenge Stadium).
You don't have to be a runner to participate. The goal is to raise much needed funds for Parkerville Children and Youth Care and to have a great, family day out.
However, if you have some serious runners at your school, there is an opportunity to win the Spring Forward Perpetual Trophy for the school that has the largest number of participants.
Kids can enter in one of eight race categories:
Under 5's Free Race (100m) Under 7's 500m
Under 8's 1km
Under 10's 2km
Under 12's 2km
Under 15's 3km
Under 18's 5km
All participants will receive an official race number, a certificate and a medal at the finish line. For those that take it seriously, every child will be timed and you can request your official race time after the event.
You can even do a late registration on the day (plan to get there at 7.30am). The first race begins at 8.30am.
A professional will be in attendance to take all the runners through a warm up and there's the opportunity to run with an adult in the relay teams. (Perhaps have a quick practice this weekend).
You can also do some serious fundraising between now and then. Call Vicky at PCYC for more information on 9290 1200.
PCYC utilises the funds raised at Spring Forward to continue to care for our most vulnerable children in the community. They provide professional services in a therapeutic environment to children who have suffered trauma and abuse.
