Spring is in the air, the rains have arrived to clear away all the cobwebs of winter, flowers are in bloom, and the days are getting longer and warmer - signalling the perfect time to celebrate the Sunshine Coast’s beautiful environment with the ever-popular
Bushland Holiday Program at Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden.
Children and families will absolutely love these seasonally-inspired activities, presented by leading nature play facilitators. Held in the beautiful bushland of the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens, children will have the opportunity to connect with nature through imaginative play and immersive learning.

TUESDAY 19 SEPTEMBER :
FAIRY DOORS, 9.00am to 12.00noon
SUITABLE FOR AGES 3 to 7
FACILITATOR: ABBIE FROM SACRED BOWL

Children will get to design and build their very own fairy door for the fairies at the Botanic Garden. Creative hands and hearts will be guided to transform cardboard, sticks, pebbles, paint, moss and leaves into teeny tiny doors. Take your fairy door home and bring some magic into your garden.

Spring is in the air … embrace and capture the seasonal energy of spring by making a suncatcher. Participants will choose leaves, seeds, flowers and feathers to decorate their suncatcher with texture and colour. Children will learn how to do knots and bind to enhance their springtime suncatcher, which they will be able to take home.

NATURE HULA HOOPS, 10.00am to 12.00noon
SUITABLE FOR AGES, 5 to 12
FACILITATOR: LISA FROM NATUREWEAVERS

How exciting! Learn how to make your very own hula hoop using native vine and bamboo. Participants will get to decorate their hula hoops with recycled fabric and markers, before giving them a twirl and taking them home for continued practising.

Spring has sprung and habitats like the
Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden is buzzing with busy-ness and action.
On the 23 September come along to meet award-winning author, Dr Sarah Pye and her puppet sidekick, Pongo, the Orangutan. This fabulous duo will share amazing stories of tiny rainforest heroes and accomplished architects.
Children will be thrilled to learn from Pongo about how animals survive in the forest and the roles animals play in keeping the ecosystems healthy. Participants will have an opportunity to have a go at building their own nests from natural materials and Pongo will try them out for size.
Kids will leave Sarah’s workshop feeling a sense of wonderment; an enhanced love of nature and equipped to make a difference.
