This musical will keep you on your toes
When I think of musicals I am brought back to my early teenage days, running around backstage for the yearly performance, gossiping about the boys in my class and who I was crushing on that month- all of that teenage innocence really. Generally the musicals I knew most about were the well known classics that were "fun for the whole family".

Spring Awakening however paints a slightly different picture to your typical modest musical. Based on the German musical, Spring awakening provides an interesting take on the strains and pressures placed on youth due to societal and family expectations.

The musical provided an interesting mix of characters, each displaying their own eccentricity.

This musical was quite interesting and I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out whether it was dramatic or in fact comedic, which made it more entertaining as each scene was unpredictable. Despite scenes changing regularly from quite emotive to humourous, the entire musical was brought together quite well, due to the consistency of strong music throughout the performance.

If you're after a quirky musical with energetic characters and an interesting story, this is one to see. I would suggest however that you don't bring the kids along to this one, it's safe to say it has some adult content.
