The Melbourne Exhibition Centre is set to host a battle for the ages - and maybe a quick nap.
On April 11th, 2010, warriors of all shapes and sizes will square off in the softest, cuddliest conflict ever fought: Spotlight World's Greatest Pillow Fight. Two years ago, the small town of Butlins, Somerset, half the world away in the United Kingdom, made history. They claimed the Guinness World Record for the largest pillow fight ever held, boasting nearly four thousand participants waging playful, childlike war upon each other.
But its a title that we, as true blue Australians, simply can't allow the Poms to keep. And so, a call to arms, as Melbourne's residents prepare to claim the record for themselves. Now's your chance to be part of something big. To be in the Guinness World Record is prestige sought after, and the World's Greatest Pillow Fight paves a fun way to fame.
But its about more than the prestige of simply holding a Guinness World Record. Participants brandishing their feathered weapons have it out for a good cause. Spotlight World's Greatest Pillow Fight aims to support Variety, the children's charity. Variety is dedicated to assisting and transforming the lives of children with special needs, granting opportunities with the aim of increasing their quality of life, and ultimately fulfilling their potential.
As if that weren't enough, the day will be jam packed with live music and entertainment, great prizes up for grabs, celebrity bouts and much, much more. So this April, get your friends and family together, get dressed up and bring your pillow along to the Melbourne Exhibition Center to duke it out with each other in the name of fun, fame and charity.
