The Spot in Randwick is much more than just a heritage conservation area. It is a bustling little hub of quaint cafes, popular restaurants and other small shops. There is even a classic old cinema, The Randwick Ritz. Tickets are much cheaper than the bigger theatres and they play all the latest films. Coogee Beach is only a short downhill walk from The Spot so it would be worthwhile to make a day of it.

For something a little fancier, try the Four Frogs Creperie. Their salted caramel and white chocolate ice-cream crepe with toasted almonds (pictured) will really hit the spot. You'll want to drink the sauce, they make it themselves. They open from 11am on weekdays and 7.30am on weekends.

Try the flaming 'Monument to Mischief' (pictured). If you can get in early try one of their almond and walnut chocolate croissants. The carb coma is worth it. They open daily from 7am till late.
