Specialising in Vietnamese cuisine, is located on Melbourne Street at North Adelaide. Their dishes cover a good range of options, ranging from those typically seen at Vietnamese restaurants to more unusual options.

Banh Hoi is an unusual dish in which a sheet made from rice vermicelli noodles is used as the wrapper, which gave the dish its light texture. Crackling roast pork belly was used as the filling. The roast pork had succulent flesh set off nicely by the crisp crackling. Pickled carrots and shredded lettuce complemented the Banh Hoi well, and a scattering of crushed peanuts added some crunch. Fish sauce was provided with the dish as a dipping sauce to add an element of saltiness.



The filling in the Combination Banh Mi consisted of a mix of crackling roast pork, marinated grilled chicken and Nem Nuong – Vietnamese grilled BBQ Pork. Both the Nem Nuong and grilled chicken were cooked just right, with the chicken having a good amount of charred flavour. The homemade pate gave the dish its distinctive flavour and the spiciness of the chilli was not too intense. For a more filling dish, you can add a fried egg for a bit of an extra cost.



The soft-shell crabs in the Soft Shell Crab Salad were fried to a golden brown, and of a size to make eating them a satisfying experience. The shredded cabbage and cucumber were refreshing and crisp, and the tamarin dressing added a bit of tang. We were also able to detect the refreshing taste of mint in the salad.



The lemongrass beef we chose for the Bun Bowl had the right degree of lemongrass flavour. The pickled carrot, cucumber and mint partnered well with the beef and the rice vermicelli noodles tied everything together. In addition to the Nuoc Chum sauce to mix into the dish, a lemon wedge was provided for adding a bit of tang.



The Spot is offering free delivery to places within 3km from Melbourne Street and $5 for places under 10km away. Pre-packed meals that can be stored frozen are also available.
