Oh my gosh, this is a brilliantly ingenious idea! A social sports club for adults - well, if you're fifteen years of age or older, you will definitely qualify to join
SportUP Sunshine Coast.
Further 'qualifications' to join SportUP
You are a newbie to the area;
You have a demanding job, putting time constraints on your exercise;
You really want to play some sort of sport, but not necessarily every day;
And yes, you really would love to make new friends
Well, look no further, we have
SportUP Sunshine Coast on your doorstep. Paul, the owner/manager of
SportUP Sunshine Coast, felt he had to get creative to get himself out of the house, put down his techno devices and switch from a couch potato-ish regimen to something slightly more energetic! And besides, making friends in the outside world is so much better than digitally enhanced avatars!&

Paul's solution was the birth of
SportUP Sunshine Coast. In January 2018,
'after eight months of living on the Sunshine Coast, and struggling to find a team (in any sport) where I could just play once a week for fun, without having to commit to training sessions and not be overly competitive', Paul started a soccer league.
Initially, this soccer league was four teams, with three of the four teams, being made up of individual players. Now, four seasons down the track, 90% of those four teams are still playing with
SportUP. SportUP proudly boasts (and justifiably so) to having around six hundred, happy new members, who have joined; are currently playing; or have booked for the new season commencing in 2019.
What exactly does SportUP offer
5-side Soccer - 12 week seasons - $180 (includes a team
SportUP t-shirt)
Netball - 12 week seasons - $180 (includes a team bib)
Touch Rugby League (TRL) - 10 week seasons - $150
Basketball* (Coming soon - April 2019) - 12 week seasons - $180
The soccer, netball and basketball games are all played indoors, with only the Touch Rugby League (TRL) being played outdoors.
What makes SportUP different to other sports facilities?
*SportUP is different because they want and encourage people of any age (fifteen years and older) or ability to come and play sport in a social, fun and encouraging environment.
*SportUP have two leagues for all their sports - 'Social' and 'Intermediate'. If a player is in the 'Social' league, then the games are just for fun and to meet some new mates. The 'Social' league players are definitely not fussed about winning or losing games.
If a player wants to play at a slightly higher level but still against social teams and players, then the 'Intermediate' league would be the natural choice.
I love the idea that players starting up at
SportUP , do not require any prior knowledge or experience of any of the games, before commencing playing.
SportUP's coaches and referees are only too happy to assist with 'in game' training and coaching - how awesome is that! In other words, if you've never played a game before, no worries, there is always plenty of help on hand.
The other tidbit of information I gleaned from my visit to
SportUP is that 'girls' and 'boys' play together, no matter the sport. So, if you're a 'girl' but dying to try out a game of soccer, give it a go! You will be amazed at the mixed ratios within the teams and nobody bats an eyelash!
Booking with SportUP
is easy as, and can be done in three steps
1. Choose your sport
2. Register online
3. Start playing (generally within a week of booking)
SportUP offers a 100% money back guarantee!
SportUP are so positive that you will love playing with them, that if, if for any reason you don't enjoy your first game, playing as an individual with
SportUP, you are guaranteed a 100% refund of your season fee.
As I said before, this is such an awesome idea and such an awesome sports club.

SportUP also organise social evenings for their members - I noticed they have a Trivia night coming up at
The Pocket Espresso Bar in Moffat Beach - with free entry. They also have their very own
SportUP Sunshine Coast Socials page and this is where all the extra fun stuff can be found i.e. weekends at the beach; sundowners in the evening.
I know I'm sounding a bit parrot-like here (with all my repetitiveness) but after only one visit to
SportUP, I personally think that this is a fabulous way to get involved in a community, play some social sports
AND make new friends. A win-win for everybody!
