RAW Art is excited to announce an inspiring NEW series of Spoon Carving workshops for adults this Winter!

If you love getting creative and learning new skills in a relaxed and social atmosphere, RAW Art's new series of Spoon Carving workshops is perfect for you!

It's a great way to discover new artistic methods and techniques and meet new like-minded people. Plus all the required tools and materials will be provided - so all you have to do is come along!

This June, Brisbane based wood expert Carol Russell will be presenting a series of Spoon Carving workshops at RAW Art. Designed for the absolute novice, this hands-on workshop series will show you how to turn a chunk of wood into a beautiful hand crafted spoon!

Carol Russell has been carving spoons for many years and through theses evening classes she will share her expertise and offer a great introduction to carving tools and how to work with wood.

Some of the basic carving techniques you'll learn include tool sharpening and whittling and you will also be encouraged to create your own original design.

Carving spoons is a great way to get into woodworking and there are three workshops to choose from

  • Spoon Carving 101 (Wednesday evenings - 1st / 8th June at 7-9pm) - for the absolute beginner

  • Advanced Spoons and Tools (Wednesday evenings: 15th / 22nd June at 7-9pm) - for those who already know a bit about carving, and want to take their spoon designs to the next level

  • Spoons and Tools (Wednesday evenings: 1st / 8th / 15th / 22nd June at 7-9pm) - enjoy the whole series of four workshops over four Tuesday nights.
