It's almost the spookiest time of year and the Northern Suburbs are getting into the spirit of the eerie season.

A 'Spooktacular' Halloween Market is planned for Saturday 31st October and it's shaping up to be downright disturbingly fun!

The event is being held as a fundraiser for Kidzucate, a local, not for profit organisation based in Burns Beach.

Kidzucate was launched by local Perth girl, Sian, with the help of her mum, after being bullied at school due to her stutter. Sian and mum Azelene began Kidzucate with the aim of empowering young people to be themselves. Sian began Kidzucate at just 6 years of age, while trying to problem solve how to deal with the issue of bullying in a kid-friendly way. She utilised YouTube to present a series of educational videos, teaching kids to be better kids. Sian's idea was to not just talk about bullying, but also to reach out and mentor other children. You can read more about Kidzucate via their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/kidzucate

The Spooktacular is organised by 'Linsey's Community Events', a small business founded mid-2015 to showcase local artisans and other small businesses and bring together the community. Linsey is excited about the event as it involves some brand new stallholders along with favourites from previous markets she has run.

She was also keen to support such a worthy fundraising recipient: "I have met with both Azelene and her daughter, Sian, and looking forward to the opportunity of helping out a local cause."

Karma Kure Soaps , Handcrafted Soaps from Perth lady, Danni, are excited about attending. "I think bullying is close to home for most people, everyone has experienced some form of bullying. I support Kidzucate at Spooktacular so we can educate our new generation on the effects that bullying can have and ways to combat. Its a great cause, and I'm grateful to be a part of it."

Hills Handmade Enthusiast and Stallholder, Kim Lennon, is travelling down from Glen Forrest for the event. The fundraising outcome was a real draw card for her taking along her business Heart to Hand , to the market, "I don't want to TRICK you but it will be a real TREAT for me as I will be getting into the SPIRIT of the day by helping to raise funds for Kidzucate - a local not for profit organisation that was set up my a young girl who suffered at the hands of bullies." Sounds like the stallholders are well on board with the scary theme!

"Kidzucate is a wonderful cause. We have all encountered bullying at some point in our lives so this not for profit organisation needs our help to get the word out there that there are people who care and will listen and help" said Ali's Cake Creation Owner.

The Family Hub will also be in attendance; "As someone who has seen firsthand the harm that bullies can cause in a young person's life, the opportunity to play a very small part in supporting an organisation, like Kidzucate, that not only educates but strives to empower our children and young people with knowledge that enables them to be better equipped to deal with difficult situations, is something not to be missed."

The market will be held at Wanneroo Tavern Function Room at 18 Dundebar Road on Saturday 31st October, 2015.

The event kicks off at 10am and browsers, shoppers and buyers are welcome until 2pm.

There will be a raffle on the day with proceeds continuing the great work of Kidzucate, with tickets on sale throughout the day. If you are unable to make it on the day but would like to purchase tickets (or donate a prize!), you can contact Linsey's Community Events via the Facebook page here: www.facebook.com/linseyscommunityevents
