Fun, free water park for Brisbane kids
I love finding new places for a fun morning with my two little girls aged three and one. Water play is always a winner, so I had been wanting to try the Splash and Play water park in the new development of Providence in South Ripley for a while now.
If you are in the Western Suburbs, it is located a bit of a drive past Springfield on the Centenary Highway. The Splash and Play is just inside the new housing development. There were plenty of car parks with a very short walk to the park. The weather was a little against us with a big burst of rain hitting just as we were about to start playing but it did mean that the park was very quiet. It was only opened last year, so all the facilities are brand new and very clean. There are toilets and showers, shelters with tables, chairs and free BBQs.
The water play part of the park consists of two areas. The first with little fountains and a stream, the other with arches and bigger jets of water. The girls had a wonderful time running around and splashing each other.
There are also two playgrounds, one for the little ones with a climbing frame, swings and see saw. The other playground looked amazing, but was well out of the age range for my kids. With huge towers and slides this would be a dream for children 6 and up.
After our splash and play, we sat next door at Forty West Cafe and Bar for some lunch. They have a great menu with something to suit most with burgers, salads and pizzas. My girls can vouch for the fries and the most important part of finding a good play area is that the coffee was good too.
