Spirit House (20 Ninderry Road, Yandina) is a Sunshine Coast restaurant and cooking school. Set in the hinterlands, this establishment is located amidst tropical gardens, bubbling waterfalls and a peaceful pond and offers modern Asian cuisine for nature lovers.
The Spirit House Cooking School provides a variety of different Asian cuisines and cooking techniques, including Thai, curries and Asian barbeque. The classes are small (around twenty people each) and popular, with many booking out months in advance. Each lesson takes about four and a half hours and includes lunch or dinner and a glass of beer or wine.
Spirit House Cooking Classes are $125 per person. Day classes take place from 9.30am until 1.30 – 2.00pm, and evening classes take place from 4.30pm until 8.30 – 9.00pm. You can make a booking online through their website.
If you prefer eating to cooking, spend some time at the Spirit House Restaurant. The restaurant is a shared dining experience, which means that you order for the table instead of individually. The menu, which is largely contemporary Thai, utilises fresh local ingredients and includes unique selections such as crispy belly pork with citrus caramel sauce and soft shell crab with garlic chilli. Desserts include a lime coconut parfait or Bangkok bombe with sorbet and meringue.
