This event, is an opportunity to experience the best of South Australia's premier Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Culture. The festival runs over 5 days with a wide selection of cultural and entertainment events for you and your family to enjoy.

The organisers of the Spirit Festival state on their website, they want to "inspire you to explore your artistic side, tickle your funny bone, heighten your senses, get moving, get involved and feel proud." And with a full program of visual arts, music, theatre, literature, and Indigenous dance there will be plenty of options to be involved. You can download a PDF file of the program here

The program of the Spirit Festival has been developed to be interactive and provides many methods of joining a variety of activities to express yourself through language lessons, writing programs, dot painting, storytelling, native flower and artifact making, plus many other 'hands on' workshops. There are workshops for both adults and children. See the workshop program on the festival program on the link above. Once you look at the program you will see there is such a lot on, and why they need five days to fit it all in.

The program provides a wonderful selection of happy fun and uplifting children's activities. Kids will love to hear Aboriginal storyteller Aileen, who will tell the story of Kondili the Whale, which is a Ramindjeri and Kaurna story. Find her at Kondili the Whale, which will be set up on the lawn area across from Tandanya, known as Mullawirraburka. The audience will be invited to enter Kondili as Aileen and her father sing and tell traditional stories inside the giant whale tent on Sunday 15th March from 12pm.

Many other activities are on especially for children including a fun games session. Kids can also have their faces painted at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm and enjoy many other activities.

The festival also will have plenty on for adults in the evenings. In the Tandanya cafe there will be a cabaret on the Saturday night. Also some films, and a comedy night. Outdoors over the weekend on the stage area, performers include Thelma Plum, Ursula Yovich, Deadly Funny, Shauntai Batzke, Kayla Truth and Buddy Knox. There will be a dance area to view some traditional dance.

Spirit Festival is proudly a smoke, alcohol and drug free event.
