Treat yourself to a wicked winter warmer without having to leave the house. This spicy hot chocolate recipe is the result of a craving I had when the shops were closed - a craving that had to be fulfilled! Warning: this is not for the faint hearted or for those watching their waistline, this is pure indulgence.
2 cups milk of your choice (if using cow's milk choose full cream)
80grams Lindt Chilli Dark Chocolate chopped into tiny little pieces/shavings (if you don't like chilli, use any good quality dark chocolate). 2 teaspoons thickened or double cream (optional). 1 teaspoon mixed spice (if you don't have a mixed spice blend, add half teaspoon cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg).
Method 1. Heat milk, Milo and spices slowly in a saucepan over medium heat (for best results, use a milk steamer if you have one). 2. When the milk mix is hot but not quite boiling, add the chocolate bits and stir rapidly until the chocolate is melted. 3. Remove saucepan from stove and pour into cups. 4. Gently drop a teaspoon of cream into the cup (you can stir it in or just leave it to slowly melt).
Makes 2 cups - just half it for one person or double for 4.
This is a simple yet divine recipe and the spices give it a real kick, so treat yourself with this delicious winter warmer .
