Be a participant in a unique Brisbane photo shoot with internationally renowned artist, Stanley Tunick as part of this year's MELT Festival.
Who is Spencer Tunick?
Artist-photographer
Spencer Tunick is a New York-based artist and photographer who documents live nude figures in public spaces. Having shot over 100 temporary site-related installations since 1992, Tunick has involved thousands of volunteers to participate in the photos. The photos have become stylised as individuals en masse gather and are grouped without their clothing.
His work has been described as
' [being] designed to bring the human body to the forefront to invigorate a sense of community, to defy death and celebrate life.' His photoshoot nude installations have taken place all over the world, in landmark spaces in cities and countries including Finland, Belgium, the United States, the Netherlands and more. You might have seen the Tunick shot taken in Sydney's famous Bondi Beach.
The 2024 Brisbane Photoshoot
After his successful 2023 Brisbane photoshoot, the River City will be welcoming back Stanley Tunick to lead another progressive and impressive photoshoot (in the 2-part series) again capturing his unique style. The shoot will occur across Brisbane's heritage-listed Story Bridge (connecting Fortitude Valley and East Brisbane) on Sunday 27 October 2024 which will be closed for the event.
Participants are being invited to be a part of the sea of natural bodies in the photo. Every selected participant who takes part will receive a print of the final artwork as a gift of appreciation from Brisbane Powerhouse.

click here - registrations close at midnight on Sunday 20 October 2024. Those who submitted Spencer's previous Brisbane installation TIDE will be automatically included in this installation.
About the MELT Festival
The Stanley Tunick photoshoot is part of the inaugural Melt Open, Brisbane's major new festival celebrating queer art and culture. The MELT Festival will be held from 11 to 26 November 2024 at the Brisbane Powerhouse. Check out the Powerhouse website for the full program of events.
